The purpose of this mod is to provide a German Language Pack to work with Zen Cart Version 1.5.3 .

This pack only contains the UTF-8 version

History and Change Log

The German language pack was first translated from the original English version by hugo13 and maleborg.

This latest update v1.5.0 (dated 2014-12-07) includes all changes relevant up to Zen Cart version 1.5.3 .

CATALOG: Minor additions, changes and corrections to language files in the catalog to reflect changes/additions found in Zen Cart versions 1.5.2 and 1.5.3 .

ADMIN: Numerous new language files have been added to the admin section to reflect changes/additions found in Zen Cart versions 1.5.2 and 1.5.3 .

Installation

1. Install the files

2. Activate this language pack in your admin

Login to your Admin and in Localization > Languages click the "new language" button.

3. Making changes

If you intend to make changes to any of the defines contained in the files of this package, save the changed files to the relevant template folder of your install. It is not recommended to overwrite the existing core files as it will make future upgrades much more difficult. For information about how to use the override system please consult this tutorial.

Coding of 'Umlauts': please see this forum post if you want to add your own definitions containing 'Umlauts'.

Alternatively you can use the included Umlaute.txt file containing 'Friendly Code' and 'Numerical Code'.

4. Assign currency to this language pack

If you want your customers to automatically switch to the German default currency Euro when they select the German language at your store front, then go to Admin > Configuration > My Store and set 'Switch To Default Language Currency' to true. This will automatically switch to the language's currency when it is changed

5. Sending emails in HTML using the German language pack?

Create a folder in /emails named de so it reads /emails/de

Now copy all email templates from /emails to /emails/de

Done

Do a test order and check that emails are sending in HTML

Additional Help

If you have any problems using this add-on module, then first review its support thread to see if the question has already been answered. If not post a query there. What support we can offer will be through the Zen Cart support forum so that all users can benefit. Please don't send us emails, PMs or telephone us at work - these won't get you help, they'll get you blacklisted.

Final Word

If you are happy with this pack you are cordially invited to make a small donation (PayPal to service@frnt.org) towards the power consumption of my computer which has helped me to iron out some bugs, make this contribution more workable and to keep it updated.

Cheers from frank18.
